UnAuthorized Restoration of DATA

 Hello,

Just like to as if there is a way to protect the "TAPES" that we are using for backup.  That restoration of a data should not work if he is not authorized excute the restoration.. This will also secure us if our tape was stolen.

 you could put a password on the tape when doing the backup -think you can set this on the media tab.

one thing though if you do this - make sure you document this password, and make sure you never ever lose it - maybe write it on a piece of paper and put it in a safe, safe deposit box it good as well - because if you forget this password you are totally stuffed and cannot get any data off the tape - i am not even sure if data recovery specialists can get the data off the tape

 By the way we are using Veritas 8.6 and were backing up SQL ,Exchange and some flat files

Encrypted backups are not availabel until Backup Exec Version 11.x
