Unable to Catalog tape

Hi,
I'm trying to catalog a tape to complete a restore of our system state, however I'm getting the following errors and the job fails: 'Semaphore timeout period has expired'. When searching through the veritas doco, this error occures if connection problems are between the server and the SCSI device. A patch is also available to installed, which has an up to date tape drivers (document id: 190598). I have ran a test backup of some files on the local drive and it worked ok, but I'm unable to catalog a tape.

I have installed this patch and rebooted the server, but I'm still unable to cataloge a tape. I'm using Backup Exec 9.1 (4691 with SP4a), Windows 2000 SP4 with MS04-012.
Thanks,
Daniel

Hi,

We would also suggest, that you check system events for SCSI related events (7,9,11or 15) and in case you find any please refer to following technote/article for further information

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/191158.htm

Try performing catalog of another tape and check for the errors if any.

Thank You,

Shweta
