Unable to Start Backup Exec Services After changing domain

Hi,

I'm unable to start the backup exec services after joining the backup server to a new domain. I have already specified the new service account but to no avail. I get error 1065. The problem I'm facing looks like what is found in this article http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/274119.htm but it is for v10. Is there a similar article for v9.1?

Please advise.

Regards,
Jeremy

By "specifiying the new service account" are you referring to actually changing the user account in the service applet for all BE services? This can be done easily if the UI opens by going to Tools\Backup Exec Services and then select the Services Credentials button to make the change to all services automatically.

Yes I've tried changing the logon account for all be services but the main issue I think I have here after joining the backup server to another domain is the database cannot be started hence causing the "device and media" service not to start.

The article for v10 seems to be the exact problem I'm facing but I cannot see the "update server configuration" option for v9.1 beutility.

Please advise.

Try the "Change Database Access" link, it allows you to enter a user name and domain.

Any luck with this under 9.1? I am having precisely the same problem, and have looked everywhere for a solution. Other than re-installing from scratch, at the moment, I see no other solution???

Try deynubs suggestion, otherwise you might try this via the 'isql' SQL tool. (Which is probeally the same as the BE util would do) With this tool you can alter the account which the database uses to authenticate itself on the windows domain. Try searching the microsoft site to find the correct parameters. Becareull do, with this tool can really f*ckup your database if do not know what you are doing.

Hello,

You may try repairing the database:

Title : How to run a Backup Exec database repair when the original Backup Exec database is found to be inconsistent
http://support.veritas.com/docs/265180

If you are ready to loose all configuration information you may also try the option to 'reload from base' in the beutility.

I'm having the exact same issue, server name remained the same but joined new domain. I've tried the change access link but still no luck starting the services.
