I am tryign to configure a new disk-based storage device for a Buffalo 5200 series Terastation device we recently purchased. When I go to type the network path (\\192.168.1.45\Backup), it tells me that the unc path is invalid. If I navigate to the UNC path in windows explorer, I am able to access it and write files to it. I have already added an entry to the DNS for the NAS.
I am running Backup Exec 2014 on a windows server 2008 R2 machine. I have also ran b2dtest.exe and it worked fine.
Solved! Go to Solution.

...have you checked on the BE 2014 HCL that the device is actually supported?
Also, it looks like the NAS does iSCSI, so try carving out iSCSI LUNs, presenting them to the media server (or just 1 LUN if you can) and then creating the B2D on that. iSCSI works well.
Thanks!

I have checked the HCL list and the device is supported. I will try iSCSI and see if it helps any.
Edit: iSCSI worked beautifully! Thanks for the tip!
