When trying to configure storage for dedupe on Windows server 2012 R2/4GB RAM/500GB HDD with Backup exec 2014, it gives an error message of 'unable to configure dedupe disk storage.....An error occurred while creating deduplicationdisk storage..

I will appreciate if solution is provided ASAP.

Thanks

If it does not, have a look @ the event viewer and adamm.log as to why the failure is.

Please carefully go through 'Requirements for the Deduplication Option' in

before attempting config again.

@ VJware, is this a command or what?

i will appreciate if you can simplify this.....thanks

On the volume where the creation of the deduplication disk storage folder fails, change the permissions as follows:

E:\>icacls E:\

E:\ BUILTIN\Administrators:(F)

BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)(IO)(F)

NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(F)

NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)(IO)(F)

NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users:(M)

NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users:(OI)(CI)(IO)(M)

BUILTIN\Users:(RX)

BUILTIN\Users:(OI)(CI)(IO)(GR,GE)

And @ Marianne, do you mean if i didn't meet the minimum requirement for dedupe, i wouldn't be able to configure a dedupe storage on BE 2014.

Yes, icacls is a command run via the cmd. Have a look @ this article as well for more info on this command - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753525.aspx

So if E:\ is the volume where DeDupe is going to be configured, you run the following cmdlet from cmd

icacls E:\
