Unable to mount a succesfully restored VHD file

Stefan_Linck

Hi there,

I did a restore of a single non-system vhd file from tape. The job ended up successfully. Nevertheless I am unable to mount the vhd or to attach it to another virtual machine. The error message is "You don't have permissions" (which is wrong) or "The file is currupt". I tried 3 different VHD restore applications but with no success.

What can I do? I am happy for any suggestions!

Best regards - Stefan.

Check the event logs for any errors. Check the properties of the file for readonly file attributes as well and make sure you are using the same version of Windows or higher than the source to mount the vhd. Try mounting through disk management to see if you get a different (better) error.
