Unable to perform GRT backups to NAS B-2-D Folder

I am unable to perform GRT backups of VMware virtual machines to a NAS B-2-D Folder.

I receive the following error.

Job ended: Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 3:05:46 PM
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe00095b3 - Unable to create the virtual disk.
Final error category: Resource Errors

For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-38323

If you follow the link, it references a hotfix

Solution

This issue has been resolved with Hotfix 354451 in Backup Exec 2010.

I'm running 2010 R3 SP2 with Hotfix 180429 and 176937 installed. The Platform is an BE Appliance 3600

I can't install the hotfix on the appliance - errors out.

I can backup using GRT to a dedupe folder or USB drive.

I need to backup to NAS at this point because I am struggling with DEDUPE issues - folder is full - only getting 1.99:1 dedupe ratio.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Check to make sure that the NAS is on the BE 2010 HCL on the link below:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH137050

You might also want to get hold of the b2dtest.exe tool and run that against the NAS to see if it is supported. If not, and if the NAS is capable of iSCSI, invoke that, present disk to your backup server (span the disks if need-be), and then create a B2D there...this should sort out any network issues until you get your appliance sorted out.

Thanks!
