Upgrade BE 10.0 to BE12.5

HI,

I need to upgrade BE 10.0 to BE12.5, in different forums says, need this step by step... firts to version 11, after 11d and finally to 12.5, but y have another question, What happend whit my RAWS and the license Key it works whit the new version of BE12.5?

Your license for 10 will not work for 12.5, you will have to get a new key.  If you currently have a support/maintenance agreement you can contact symantec to get the new license key information.

Aditionally, U will have 2 options for RAWS.
1º Put and "proving" server with 11d, and update them, then update them to 12.5

Another option, is uninstalling the agent and installing the new one.

I made both options in my upgrade with no problems.

I am upgrading from 10 bld 5520 to 12.5. i do have license # for 12.5. how do i upg fro 10 to a version that will upg to 12.5? i tried to access the link

 Ideally , you go to fileconnect.symantec.com and insert the serial number for the BE version you want to download .

But in this case , since we are not going to use it forever , you might not have the serial number for that .

You can use the below link to download BE 11d , 12.0 or 12.5 without the serial number.

HI Willdog,

Upgrading Backup Exec from 10d to 12.5 is not possible. Upgrading to 12.5 directly starts to Backup Exec 11d build 7170. As mentioned above, two ways is possible to upgrade your currrent version to the latest one. First is to do the mult-upgrade step which is 10d to 11 or 12 followed by 12 to 12.5. Another option is to have a fresh install of Backup Exec 12.5

Thanks for the info. One last question. I have version 10. Can i upg from 10 to 11d or do i have to go from 10 to 10d? if so, where do i find the link to 10d? i have looked but haven't found it.

You can go straight to v11d in trial mode (no serials) then to v12.5 with your serials

Your BackupExec 10D should have valid support, if it has valid support it means that you are eligible with the free version upgrad, but if your version 10D does not have valid support I do advise you to contact your reseller and buy the upgraded license which is the version 12.5
