Just received e-mail about upgrade available of BE 2014.

Currently running BE 2012, I would like to know how to upgrade BE server / agent from 2012 to 2014.

Thanks

Before upgrading stop all the BE services and make a copy of Data and Catalogs folder located at the

root of the BE installation directory. Download and extract BE2014 ISO to the local drive.

Run the setup and follow the wizard. Once the upgrade is done run live update to install latest hotfixes.

Once all the updates are installed push remote agent on all the remote servers.

Refer to the below blog on BE2014 useful links.

Do read BE2014 Hardware and Software compatibility list before the upgrade process.

Each agent/option in your license list is the actual product license and the maintenance license as well.

You have the core Backup Exec 2014 license - for the media server where BE 2014 is installed.

Remote Agent for Windows - for remote Windows servers

Remote Agent for Linux - for remote Linux servers

Agent for Applications & Databases - For servers running applications such as Active Directory, SQL, Sharepoint, Lotus, Oracle, Exchange.

And the quantity of each agent/option is mentioned in your license list and each agent/option per this list corresponds to one server.

You need to upgrade all the licences to use them with BE 2014.  With licencing, if you are not sure of anything, it is best that you contact the Symantec Licencing Dept which is the final authority on all licencing matters.  Choose option 2 after dailing your local Symantec support phone number.

You will need to get a new set of license keys for BE 2014. Your BE 2012 license keys will not work with BE 2014. If you are on a current maintenance contract, you can upgrade for free. The new license keys can be obtained by going to my.symantec.com or contacting the Symantec Licencing Department
