Upgrade SQL server 2014 to SQL server 2019 for BE 21

Dear Experts,

We have installed BE 21 on Windows server 2019. While installing the BE 21, by default SQL server 2014 was installed.

And now the customer requirement is to change SQL server 2014 to later(SQL 2019).

So, please assist me with how we can change this.

From the other community discussion, they told to upgrade BE 21 to BE 21.3

Note: This is a new deployment.

Install new 2019 instance. Lets call it BackupExec. Install it and choose the account used for backup exec install.
Then use beutility and move backup exec database to new instance https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100001771

Thanks for your reply

But

I want SQL server 2019 to install on a windows server so what I can do?

While installing Backup Exec 21, by default SQL server 2014 has been installed.

So if I install the next version of Backup Exec then will it install SQL server 2019?

1) If BE is already installed and jobs/configuration are set then better to download and Install new 2019 instance. Lets call it BackupExec. Use the account used for backup exec install when installing SQL 2019 instance.

2) Then use beutility and move backup exec database to this new 2019 SQL Instance. Refer below Technote instance https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100001771

If you have not currently installed Backup Exec 21.4 then Install the SQL 2019 instance and then while installing BE, on the screen where the install wizard asks to choose between default or custom SQL instance, choose the one that you installed and let BE install run. That way BE will create the Backup Exec database on the SQL 2019 installed by you. Hope this helps.
