Upgrade from 11d > 2010

Hi all,

this might be a strange question but here we go:

my convoluted situation:
- the current server which runs 11d is getting tossed. (OS= Win2003 x86)
- a new server should hold the new and improved BE2010 (OS = Win2008 x64, VM)
- i do not care for any of the jobs / settings from 11d. i will be doing all from  scratch

How do i accomplish upgrading 11d to 2010 AND install it on a new server?
Do i install 11d on the new server and then upgrade to 2010? Or will i be able to just install2010 from scratch (even thou the lic is an upgrade)

Hope this makes sense,  and if im missing helpful info please let me know and i will try to reply with useful data.

thanks all

~a

You'll need a Win2k8 64 bit install if you want all the bells and whistles of BE2010.

Just do a fresh install, that is usually the best way.  I've seen more issues with in-place upgrades about speed and throughput, that I just prefer a fresh install.
Make sure to get the correct licenses from the licensing.symantec.com site.

How do i accomplish upgrading 11d to 2010 AND install it on a new server?
1  : Install Backup Exec 2010 on W2008x64 Box.
2  : Uninstall BE11d from W2003box through Add/Remove Programs
3  : Uninstall Remote agents for BE11d from all the remote servers through Add/Remove Programs.
4  : Install Remote agents for BE2010 on the remote servers.

hope this helps..
