Upgrade from BE10 to BE12. Manual migration help.

Hi Guys

I have already upgraded the DLO to 7.5 and updated most of the client agents. Now my plan is to upgrade the BE2010 itself to BE2012.

I am however facing an issue. I dont remember the password of my SQL account. The database on BE2010 is stored in SQL 2005 express.

While upgrading to DLO 7.5 i choose to install SQL 2008 and DLO 7.5 is now using SQL2008.

My plan is to upgrade the BE to 2012 with a fresh new SQL account in my new 2008 SQL, and then manually migrate the database from SQL 2005.

I need to know how i can do that.

You should do an in-place upgrade your existing BE to BE 2012.  This will also upgrade the existing BEDB on SQL 2005.  You can then move the BEDB to SQL 2008 using the procedure in this document

Hey Ricoh,

While the Migration from B.E. 2010 -> 2012 is supported there have been some situations where there have been some issues with the way the jobs are broken up. This is because of the change in the approach to the backup and jobs can no longer backup multiple servers within the same job. Often it is easier to do a fresh install of 2012 and recreate the jobs to assure that they have been configured correctly. IF your looking to do a fresh install anyway you may see a smoother transition to the new version in just recreating your job definitions just be sure to use the same BESA information "Account name, password" as this account would already have the rights needed to backup your remote machines.
