Upgrading Backup Exec 15 to 16

Looking to upgrade from backup exec 2015 on W2k8 server to backup exec 16 on W2k12 R2 server.  Any tips? problems? previous discussions? Things to look out for? Would love to know what others have experienced.

Thanks all!

Hi,

You'd stop the BE services on the current server and grab copies of the Data/Catalogs folders to start with. This allows a rollback.

I'd then recommend upgrading to BE 16 with FP2 on the current server before migrating this over to the new server. Then follow the TN below:

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Craig.  Would migrating BE16 from different OS cause issues? Since I will be moving from server 2008 to 2012.

And what did you mean by FP2?

Thank you!

There is a new feature in Backup Exec 16 Feature Pack 2 which helps in seamless migration:

Easy upgrades with Backup Exec™ Migration Assistant - The new Backup Exec Migration Assistant lets you easily migrate your data from one Backup Exec server (source) to another Backup Exec server (destination). More details in following links:
