I am trying to upgrade my remote servers from 2010 SP3 to 2012. Several have succeeded, but now I am getting failures with Error 1406.
Tried downloading iso and installing locally and I get "Error 1406. Could not write value AdammLocal to key ...."
Any thoughts? I have this situation on 2 servers now.
Thanks,

It turns out that the version of SQL Express used in old version is incompatible with new version, and requires that the old .mdb , backup files and log files be deleted. Do that, then install works - its a pain, but at least it works

Create a DWORD AdammLocal at HKLM|Software|Symantec|Backup Exec for Windows Server|Backup Exec|Server and set it to 0 (zero)
retry the install...

That moved me on to getting an error code 1602. Thoughts?
