Good Morning,

We are using Symantec Backup Exec version 14.0 Rev. 1798 to backup our main file server. In the past, the backup completed without issue, but now it works for the first ~95% and then fails on the last three folders, starting with the following error:

Access denied to file XXX\output\t155\media\graphics\t155_p238_base.jpg.
Error reading security data stream.
Unable to open the item XXX\output\t155\media\graphics\t155_p238_c1.png - skipped.
Directory XXX\output\t155\media\graphics\ was not found, or could not be accessed.
None of the files or subdirectories contained within will be backed up.
V-79-57344-33967 - The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed.
V-79-57344-65033 - Directory not found. Cannot backup directory XXX\output\t155\media\misc and its subdirectories.

V-79-57344-65033 - Directory not found. Cannot backup directory [x1000]

Needless to say the files are there and BackExec has permssion to access them.

It could be that your disk is corrupted. Use a command prompt and run Chkdsk /f On the disk. The /f switch is important as it let any errors to be fixed

Do you see any errors in the Windows event logs?

Check for fragmentation on the drive where the error is occurring and make sure the Backup Exec processes are excluded from any antivirus scan running.
