VMWare SAN transport issue

Hi All,

Having issues getting V-Ray setup.

If i add the esxi box directly into Backupexec it will backup via SAN

However if i add vcenter and then try to backup the same VM i am getting this error

V-79-57344-38277 - Unable to open a disk of the virtual machine.

VixDiskLib_Open() reported the error: Invalid connection handle

We are using SSO, and are running vcenter 5.1

I have also tried to authenticate as admin@system-domain and have the same results.

Backupexec version 14.0.1798

Any help would be great!

Cheers Matt

Hi Matt,

Check the link below:

http://ww.symantec.com/docs/TECH135343

You have to use a licensed version of ESX...

Thanks!

Sorry they are running esx not esxi :)

Noeds are licenced with Enterpise Plus

Vcenter is standard.

All are licenced. As stated backing up direclty to a node works via SAN only when running thru Vcenter will no work.

OK...are you running the latest SP for BE 2012? If not, download it and try this again...

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH205351

Push-install the updates out to any remote servers you might have first before trying the backup again.

Thanks!

...you only stated the version #...I don't know if SP3 changes the version # to that hence suggesting you upgrade to SP3.

I'd suggest logging a call directly with Symantec and posting back here when they help you find the solution.

Thanks!
