VMware template backup

Hello,

How can we backup a vmware template with backup exec 16 and vmware 6.5 ? It seems impossible...

I can select the template, but all backup try give me the result in attached print screen.

All other vm on the infrastructure (also the powered off) backup without problem.

I would suggest that you provision the template as a VM (but don't power it up) and then backup that powered down VM (with GRT disabled and the option to backup powered off VMs enabled.

Then if you ever lose your template you can restore that VM (still keeping it powered down) and make it immediately back into a template.

BTW I am not sure whether this limitation is within the snapshot process provided to Backup Exec via the Vmware backup API or within BE itself.

Okay, thank you for this solution.

But in the end, I think there is no way to save a vmware template "as vmware template"?
