VSS Writer failure when backing up Exchange

Hi, was wondering if someone has experienced this problem before. We are getting a VSS writer failed error when we attempt to backup our Exchange server. It's Exchange 2010 SP1 and we're using Backup Exec 2010 R3. The backup device is a Dell PV NX3100. My manager has stated he has already rebooted the server but the error continues to pop up. Anyone have any solution to this? I have attached some screenshots.

Thanks.

You should turn off AOFO when you are backing up Exchange.

Check the status of the writers by running vssadmin list writers at the cmd...

Usually a reboot fixes the VSS writers issue for some time....you might also consider re-registering the vss files - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH70486

Thanks pkh, I just checked the properties of the Exchange backup job and saw that AOFO was checked off. I unchecked it. Let's see if that clears it.

I'm having the same issue, runs for a while and then out of the blue it fails and what's worse, leaves Exchange in a failed state. It continues to receive mail but does not deliver to mailboxes and clients can't connect (exiting become hung).

Spearated the file system backup from Exchange and open file off, lets see.....
