VXA-320 Packetloader compatibility

Rudi_Shoebe
Not applicable
We're evaluating the costs of upgrading our Exabyte EZ17 autoloader with an Exabyte VXA-320 Packetloader.

I understand Backupexec9.1 doesn't (yet?) support the Exabyte VXA-320 Packetloader but has anyone successfully used the OEM drivers?

Also I've been told that an additional license key is required to use all 10 slots of the Packetloader with Backupexec. Is this correct?

Finally if the VXA-320 is not supported what is the approx upgrade price to Backupexec10 (which supports the VXA-320) and can we keep our existing license keys?

Any help would be much appreciated.

A much better fix for this is to change the inquiry string on the VXA-320 drive so it reports as a VXA-2. It doesn't affect speed or capacity. That way Backup Exec loads the VXA-2 driver which seems to work great with the VXA-320 drive and you are on your way with Veritas drivers.

Exabyte also has a step by step install document for the hardware if you give them a call.

Does using the vxa tool for emulation have any draw backs? Downsides? I am going to purchase a VXA-320, but use Backup Exec 9.1. I have many Agents and don't want to upgrade all of them just to move to the 10.0d version. Any suggestions?

Hi Josh,

If the device is not stated as compatible then try using the OEM drivers:
