Ver 11 won't recognize my IBM TS3100

Doing a new install of BE 11.0d. I cant get my autoloader recognized. It sees the tape drive okay. I have verified that I loaded Robotic support and the latest device drivers. The TS3100 is listed as a supported device. I reviewed the tech docs but anything suggested didnt work.

Any ideas?

thanks

I had the same problem. I found setting the SCSI ID to greater than 7 solved it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I changed the SCSI ID on the TS3100 via the web interface to 10, Bounced it and the server, still don't see it. I also removed the drive in BE and bounced the services.... Still no go. Any other ideas?

Also seems that the windows 2003 sp3 RSM gets upset with the BE driver running the tape drive. I also tested with the IBM driver to see if anything was different. RSM quit complaining but still not autoloaded in BE.

Thanks
Greg

After installing 11d, did you download and install the latest driver pack?

http://support.veritas.com/docs/289147 - Symantec Backup Exec (tm) 11d (11.0.7170) - Device Driver Installer (20070415)

Also, you want to stop and disable RSM.  RSM can cause conflicts with Backup Exec as it will try to control the tape drives and library.

Also, does windows see the library listed in device manager under Medium Changers?

I have installed the latest device pack.

I will disable RSM and resinatll the BE drivers for the tape.

And no, there is no listing 'medium changers' under Device manager

Thanks

Greg,

If the medium changer is not showing up in Windows then Backup Exec is not going to show it either.  I would suggest contacting your hardware vendor to have them resolve this.  Once the medium changer is listed in Windows, Backup Exec should see it.

It's fixed.

I had the Tape Loader set to Sequential. When I changed it to Random, Windows was abel to see it.

Thanks

Does anyone know why the TS3100 has a problem showing up in Device Manager. I've been breaking my neck trying to get this thing to stay in Device manager.  I had to there one time and after a reboot.it was gone.  My original mistake was downloading IBM's device driver then they told me I would have to use Symantecs drivers. I'm using 11d BTW..

Same problem with SAS TS3100.
I can't see autoloader in device manager.
But there nothing to configure, in device settings i may change only library type of access(random & sequental, by default is random).
I was tryed to change type of access(with all steps including reloading TS3100 and server), but nothing happens, Device manager always see attached device like IBM 3580-TD4 sequental drive.
I was tryed to change port, and it stil IBM 3580-TD4 sequental drive.
I was tryed use IBM drivers(it was instal system device:PCI Tape Changer, and Tape device:IBM TD3580).
I was tryed fully uninstal BackupExec from server(first full uninstal IBM drivers, then full uninstal symantec drivers, then uninstal BackupExec.) and install it again with latest support drivers package from link provided below, and nothing changed. In device manager i see only:  IBM 3580-TD4 sequental drive and PCI tape changer with yellow tringle(drivers not installed correctly).
Somebody have any ideas?
