Verify Job randomly very slow BUE 2012

Hi, 

Backup Exec 2012 backup and verify to tape runs without any errors. 

Some weeks the stats are: 

Backup @ 840 MB/min

Verify @ 3348 MB/min

Other times, randomly, the stats are: 

Backup @ 871 MB/min

Verify @ 537 MB/min

Verify is not set up as separate job, but runs at the end of the backup within the same job. No errors, just incredibly slow. Same job, same data set.

Any sort of maintenance tasks happening on the days the job is slow like AV scans?

Nothing running at that time on the server being backed up. The AV scans happen on the weekends and this is during the week. It is a virtual server that runs a lot of app busines logic processes and stores documents.

I am noticing it now on another physical server, the verify is taking more than 24 hours longer than it normally would for this particular job.
