Today, Veritas Backup Exec is announcing support for Microsoft Azure Stack HCI. Azure Stack HCI gives customers the ability to deploy and run virtual machines in their on-prem environments, while also adding the capability to extend into the cloud since it is provided as an Azure service. The operating environment allows customers to use existing skillsets to take advantage of cloud-like benefits, and with support Veritas Backup Exec is one of the first vendors to enable customers to adopt Azure Stack HCI.

One of the main issues for customers who are making any move to the cloud is ensuring data will be protected post-migration. Without that assurance, it can be difficult for businesses to fully utilize new technology for production systems.

“We know agility is important to our customers, especially at this time of adopting cloud-based infrastructure to service their increasingly remote workforces.” Simon Jelley, VP of Backup Exec said, “We work hard to ensure customers can execute this cloud transformation both with speed and without compromise on the protection of their critical data and applications.”

Veritas has been working with Microsoft for years to provide data protection across all workloads and platforms, including SQL Server, Hyper-V, and Azure, ensuring customers have the power to choose the technology that fits their environment best.

“Our customers want to modernize their datacenter with hybrid cloud capabilities of our new Azure Stack HCI service. Veritas Backup Exec allows them to confidently shift their applications knowing their data will be protected,” said Talal Alqinawi, senior director, Microsoft Azure at Microsoft Corp.

But backup and recovery are just one part of the story. Small businesses face challenges such as the threat of ransomware just as frequently as their enterprise counterparts, and to that end Backup Exec has taken proactive measures. With Ransomware Resiliency technology, Backup Exec locks down the backup storage from any unauthorized writes or deletes – preventing ransomware from attacking your last line of defense. Additionally, for an entire application or site outages Backup Exec integrates with Azure Site Recovery via Instant Cloud Recovery – which allows businesses to failover into Azure should an issue arise.

Through all these features and integrations, Veritas Backup Exec provides a comprehensive data protection platform to small businesses, enabling our customers to stop worrying about losing their data and start focusing on moving their business forward.  And as a Microsoft Gold Partner, Veritas ensures that our joint customers have complete confidence that their data and applications are in good hands.
