Veritas Update Client won't run on W2003 installation

Judy_Suchanek

I have Veritas BE 9.1 V4691 running on my first Windows Server 2003 machine. The Veritas Update doesn't run - it is giving me the message: The VERITAS Update Client was not found on your machine. Unable to process the update request.

I have tried the recommendations in technote 257135 to no avail. Anyone have solutions?

We suggest you to download Backup Exec 9.1 from the given link. It includes the Veritas Update client.

Following tips might be useful to resolve installation problems if any:

1) Make sure that roughly 1GB hard disk space is free.

2) Delete temporary files and try reinstalling.

3) If problem still persists then try installing the product on different drive.

4) Stop third party applications and antivirus software.

5) If Terminal services are installed then try installing Backup Exec after stopping Terminal service.

6) Make sure that the user who is installing the product is logged on using administrator account.

7) Stop "Removable storage service".

8) The recommended minimum MDAC version is 2.8
We hope this will help.

In order to troubleshoot the problem, kindly refer the following steps.

Uninstall Veritas Update from ADD/Remove Programs.

-- Install VERITAS Update manually on the computer by following these steps:

-- A. Browse to the Winnt\Install\VxSDM directory of either the Backup Exec CD or downloaded installation files.

-- B. Execute SETUP.EXE.

Once Veritas Update is installed again, please reboot your system and check if the problem is solved.
