Looking for some guidance on the Virtual Machine validator component of the Symantec Backup Exec Management Plug-in for VMware.
I've installed the plug-in and an instance of vSphere client on our third media server, typically used for testing and restores.
The plug-in runs ok with the system logon account and CASO server details,
It displays the tab with last backup success / failure details no problem.
But when run the validator doesn't display any backup sets to test.
Any ideas as to why this would be?
TIA

I don't think OST Appliances are supported for validation. Only Disk Storage and DeDuplication Storage Folders are supported.

Do you have VM Workstation 7.0 or later installed ?
Secondly, validation works only for GRT-enabled FULL backups only.
Would recommend a read @ this guide, specifically the chapter on validation - https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.DOC4674.html

Yes, VMware workstation 11 is installed and I'm attempting to validate full grt-enabled backups which show as successful.
Backup Exec server selection is the CASO server.
In all cases "Valid backup sets for last 3 months are not available" is displayed, which is not true.
Yes. I've reviewed the user guide, no troubleshooting section in there...

Where are the backup sets located on ? Is it the storage connected to the CASO or at the MMS servers ?

Storage not local to CASO or MMS server, but shared OST dedupe appliance.

OK, that would explain it then. :(
Will need to stage to local storage on media server prior to validation.
