Vmware backup fail on specific hosts

We're running BackupExec 2012 and connect to a vCenter 5.5U2 server to backup VMs. For a couple of days, when the backup run, the job cannot take the snapshot of some VMs with the error : An error occurred while taking a snapshot: msg.snapshot.error-QUIESCINGERROR.
An error occurred while saving the snapshot: msg.snapshot.error-QUIESCINGERROR.

In the job lob the following error is displayed :

Job ended: 14 février 2015 at 12:10:13
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe00095a7 - The operation failed because the vCenter or ESX server reported that the virtual machine's configuration is invalid.
Final error category: Resource Errors

For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-38311

After a couple of tests, we've found out that vmotion theses VM to a specific host will allow us to run the backup again and successful. (we have 3 hosts in that cluster) but if the are on any other of the two remaining hosts, the backup will failed. The most strange part is that some others VMs are running on theses two hosts, and they are backuped up with no problem.

Rebooting the hosts dosen't fix the problem and reset the vmtools service too.

Any idea?

Are all hosts licensed for VADP (vStorage APIs) and are at the same version ?

Secondly, BE 2012 supports only up to 5.5, though BE 2014 supports 5.5 U2

Yes all hosts are Storage API licensed and they're all at the same version. Sometime. On hosts with the problems, some VM are able to be backuped and some no. And not always the same VM.

We have an entire cluster that is not affected with the same version and licensing, and being backuped with the same BE server...

Try this KB first - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH139019

If the KB doesn't help & as the error is random across hosts and VMs, then debugging & having a look @ the logs should help. Would be easier to log a support case and work with an engineer on this one.

Also take a look at the VSS writer as this error seems to be related to quiescing. You might want to re-install VSS writers & ensure required Vwaretools are also up to date. and try to perform the snapshot backup again. Thanks.
