W2K System State cannot be selected / unavailable / gray out for backup

I have a version 10 BackupExec with Remote/Open file agents. I was unable to select the system state to backup for that particular server, I can backup all the drives on that server but not the system state. I have reinstalled Remote/Open file agents on that server.

Please advise.

Thanks!

Hi,

Please refer to the following document

The document that you refered to doesn't helped. I am able to backup/select the normal C, D + E drives of my server but just the system state gray up and unavailable for selection. I have the remote/open files agents licenses installed on the backupexec server and I am able to backup the systems state of another server.

Please advice.

Thanks,

WaiLoon

Hello,

Please ensure that the Backup Exec service account has sufficient rights to
connect to the resource.

Add the Backup Exec service account to the local administrator and Domain
Admins group.

Create a new logon account and check the results:

Hello,

- Is the media server and the remote server in the same domain?

- Kindly perform a silent install of remote agent.

How to do a manual / silent install of the Backup Exec 9.x and 10.0 Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) if the push install does not succeed?

I have a similar problem on my BE 10 server. Installed a Remote Agent on a client server and I can only see the shares when creating a new job. The C$ is greyed out and the Shadow Copy Components are not visible.

Going through this forum I've tried reinstalling the Agent, setting the services on both servers to be an admin level account, added the servers to each other's HOSTS file, rebooted, etc... Still no luck.

Is there any logging done when the server opens the client for resources?

Thanks,

Ben

Hi!

If you are using operating system win 2k, shadow copy componenets won't be there as that is the feature of Windows 2003.

As far as "system state" is concerned, please locate the beremote.exe on target server and compare the file version to the backup exec version.

You can refer to this technote :http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/237682.htm
