What appears to be missing restore selections

Does Backup Exec 11d to be precise, purge it's database on restore selections. I have noticed gaps (the disappearance) in the restore selections, however the backup log acounts every day, all of which are successful. Below is a snapshot of the available selections:

 

12/5/08

12/1/08

11/21/08

10/31/08

10/24/08

 

If indeed the database is purged, is there a straight-forward process for importing the missing selections?

the only way I know of would be to inventory and catalog each oiece of media  

 

AFAIK, the only thing that BackupExec will do is either Trim or Delete catalog entries farther in the past that a specified period

 

Is it possible that newer jobs are overwriting the media ?
