I'm rather disappointed (read annoyed) that the RAWSBulkUpdate.exe utility is apparently not included with Backup Exec 2010 after my upgrade. This is/was an extremely handy and easy to use application that made it very easy to update the agents on the servers in my enterprise.
Anyone know what the story is?
Thanks,
Jim

Hi James Avery,
RawsBulkupdate.exe used to install Raws at once to mutiple server ,this functionality is now added in BE itself and morever it remembers the server that you have already installed remote agent on ,so next time when you try to push the updates to the remote servers you will not have to add the servers again and again .
Thanks & Regards

Well thats sad that it has been removed , But the updates can be installed from the GUI itself so symantec might have removed it . But you can put this as an IDEA so if more number of users vote on your IDEA , symantec might get this utility back in the next build.

So you have the following options to updatet the remote agent
1. To PUSH install the Remote Agent for Windows Servers from the Backup Exec Console please follow the directions below. - http://support.veritas.com/docs/347860 (This procedure could also be performed in previous versions - http://support.veritas.com/docs/274163)
2. You may also locally install RAWS by performing these steps: How to do a MANUAL / silent install of the Backup Exec 11.x, 12.x & 2010 Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) if the push install does not succeed - http://support.veritas.com/docs/265736

Yes, shortly after posting the original question, I "discovered" that the new interface for the agent deployment tool now will import all the servers that the media server connects to - if you're running it on the media server. It's made it simpler for agent deployment now that I don't have to go looking for the RawsBulkUpdate tool any longer. I do notice, however, that the 2010 agent takes a bit longer to deploy that the prior ones. AND also requires that the devices be rebooted as well. Finding THAT time can sometimes be problematic. Oh, well.
Thanks for the reply - and the solution.
