Worked great first time, and then Unable to attach to Exchange Mailboxes

Hi All-

Quick overview: Had Exchange 5.5 on a single server environment. Moved everything over to Exchange 2003 and was successful. Installed a new DLT drive, and Veritas worked great - did a test backup with all data, Exchange mailstore and Exchange mailboxes on Monday night.

Tuesday's night backup failed: Unable to attach to \\server\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes and Public Folders.

Nothing changed - seriously since the night before.

I look at the Job and I cannot even see the Microsoft Mailbox checkbox - only the Mailstore.

Thanks for your help - as always, long live the forums!

Hello,

1. Ensure that the backup job is being created while logged in as the Backup Exec service account.

2. Verify that the Backup Exec service account mailbox is not hidden.

If its hidden, Go to ---Active-Directory Users and Computers----click USERS---Right click on the user and go to properties----Click on---Exchange Advanced----Uncheck the box "Hide from exchange address list".

3. Make sure the Backup Exec service account has a UNIQUE MAILBOX NAME.

Note: For Ex- "Admin" and "Administrator" is not UNIQUE because they contain the same subset of characters.

3. Verify that the Backup Exec service account has Domain Administrator and Local Administrative rights.

4. Verify that the Backup Exec service account has Service Account Administrator rights at the Site level in Exchange.

5. Verify that mail can be sent to and from the Backup Exec service account mailbox.

Hope this helps you.

Regards
