Hi,
While trying to install the backup exec 8.6 on a new server but the same operating system, immideatly after add the license the error message apear:
the error message is :     a higher edition of backup exec is required to install on this edition of the operating sytem.
The license is valid and i can not continue unless i am running the evaluation period for 60 days.
While installing the evaluate copy it is work fine.
This case is emergency because there is no backup.....

You usually get this if you installing higer version backup exec lincese key to lower version of backup exec . Would recommend you you to install the correct version of backup exec for which you have the license key . Or need to get a downgraded license key  to use backup exec 8.6
