after power surge problem

Hey guys,

I tried searching for this, and wasnt able to find anything to help me. On the windows 2000 machine where backup exec is installed version 8,5 a problem occurs every power surge.

The problem is that we arent able to connect, as it says
"Application server not ready" everytime. we need to re-install and redo all the backup and restore scedules. Is there a way to avoid this problem or be able to connect?

I don't mean to be flippant, but why isn't the server on a UPS? or at the very least a Line Conditioner.

To your problem -

Is BackupExec the only application that acts strangely after a power surge?
Have you tried just shutting down and restarting all BackupExec services after this happens?

Thx ken,

that fixed the problem, the service options werent set proberly, and so i restarted the service and i was able to log-in right away.
