I have just purchased a quantum dlt v4 tape drive and backup exec came with it. I installed it and checked that the veritas drivers were not used (as recommended in the documentation) It installed MSDE as well and after the reboot the system takes ages to log in, Sophos anti virus does not work and anytime I click on anything (control panel trying to uninstall the software) explorer hangs and it needs a reboot but the same thing happens again. I ran the program that checks to see if you system spec is okay and it said everything is fine. Windows 2000 server sp3

Hi,

Does the issue also occur after disabling backup exec services?

Are you getting any errors? Are there any errors in event logs?

Try repairing BE installation:
