With the existing append period the tapes are appendable for only 1 day.

You need to set proper append period so that the backups can be appended untill the tape is full.

Refer to below article for more information on overwrite and append period.

Mr. AmolZeroCool, thanks your answer,

my backup settings;

overwrite protected until 12/18/13

appendable until 11/21/13

but  only a daily backup was taken.

my storage backup job settings;

append to media, overwrite if no appendable media is available.

my backup cartridge size of about 2.4 tb. and backup size 1.1 gb.

According to these settings need to be thirty-day data.

I did not understand where I'm doing wrong.

Your problem is with your append setting.  Since you have this set to one day, BE cannot append the second day.  You need to set that to something more, all depending upon your desires.  At least set it to 1 week?

In addition to setting a longer append period, you need to specify append in your job.  If you specify overwrite in your job, then it will always use another tape.
