...you then have to install BE from scratch, and then run an Inventory on the tape drive/autoloader, followed by a Catalog job of each tape you have in order to restore.

This is the only way you will repopulate the BEDB and allow you to restore that server.

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes you can.

1. Install the OS.

2. Install BE 9.1.

3. Restore the data.

4. Restore the System State and reboot.

This should restore the server to the last known backup.

Thanks!

You can get these information back if you have backed up the Data directory under the BE installation directory.  This directory contains the BEDB in which these information are kept.

If you have such a backup, inventory and catalog the media after reloading the OS and re-installing BE.  After that,

1) re-direct the restore of the Data directory to another directory.

2) stop all the BE services

3) replace the existing Data directory with the restored Data directory

4) start all the BE services.

If you had backed up the Catalog directory, do the same procedure and you will get back your catalogs.

We didnt have backup of BE server itself, however we willl be able to extract BEDB and catalog folder from backup exec installation directory?

will that be sufficient.

I don't understand if you did not backup the media server then how are you able to get the BEDB and the Catalog directory? If you do have these then you would get back your configuration and catalogs. Otherwise, you would have lost all your configuration data and the catalogs. There is no way to recover the old data. You would have to start afresh
