I have an issue with BE2012 in a CAS and MMS environment where immediately after the servers are restarted the very 1st schedule job crashes “bengine’ service with the above error.

I logged a support case (06742903) for the supposedly still supported product and have been told that it is not going to be fixed and I need to migrate to BE2014. " Case to be closed as issue already fixed in http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH217575 "

If this is still a supported and maintained product on Symantec list of software then should it be scheduled to be fixed or they should mark it the whole BE2012 relase at "end of life" and retire one of the worst written backup applications I have ever work with.

Response from Symantec was upgrade to their new release because we released the same bug in BE2014 but we fixed it with a patch in that release.

The fix I found that worked in our situation is to restart the Base BE Services with the BEServices tool on both the MMS and the CAS.  Since we have almost 40 TB of DeDupe Storage, this simple services restart can take some time.
