beserver.exe - Application Error

I have Backup Exec 10 installed on Windows Server 2003. When I reboot I get the following error:

beserver.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x7c354d5c" referenced memory at "0x00000000." The memory could not be "read."

I have this problem on two different servers both running 2003 and BE 10.0. I have applied the latest BE 10 sevice pack. Does anyone know of a solution?

I performed the actions recommended in the first technote. It didn't fix the problem.

I have found a reference to a memory leak with MDAC here: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads/2000/sp3.asp.

This patch "fixes the installation of MDAC files and a memory leak. These issues are addressed in articles 814572 and 814410 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base."

Is it possible to update the MDAC and MSDE for Backup Exec 10.0 SP1? Maybe this memory leak is causing the problem. What do you think.

Backup exec is running on Windows Server 2003.

Hi all,

I am hving the same issue on most of my Backup Exec 10 installation on Windows 2003 servers. The same error appears when reboot the server.

Hope this can be identified and resolve soon as this affect my remote admin ability.

Regards,
Ricky

I finally fixed this problem. I was setting the "Shutdown: Clear Virtual Memory Pagefile" option in active directory group policy. Disabling this setting fixed the problem.

Thanks! You refreshed my memory of this setting may generate beserver.exe error. Checked that this GPO setting is in my default domain GPO.
