can I connect a NETAPP storage with Backup Exec 2010 R3

Hello Guys,

Is it possible to connect NETAPP storage disks with Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3?

I have a friend that has NETAPP ONTAP and it is almost redundant with about 1.4TB. He is using BEWS 2010 R3 and needs to know if the hard drives on the ONTAP can be used with WIndows and the Symantec solution.

Thank you for your usual support.

Do you want to use the NAS solution as Backup-to-disk?

You can use it. Create B2D folder on NAS by using UNC path...

CIFS, iSCSI, FC..  If Windows can see it, BackupExec can use it.

Hey Guys,

Thank you for your responses. I just discovered that the Netapp is not on the domain and it has four of the hard drives degraded. I will confirm if Windows can see it and use it as a B2D when it is repaired.

Thanx alot.

It's not important if it's "not," on the domain.  The main thing is that the user account on the NAS matches what you setup in BacckupExec as the service account.

As for "If Windows can see it, BE can use it..."  That means UNC path too, not just a fixed drive letter.
