Did you mean:

change backup Exec server for another domain

FabriceClerc

We will migrate a site to a new (different) AD domain and bring new infrastructure which will coexist with the older infrastructure which will remain in the old domain.

So we're considering to migrate the existing Netbackup currently in domain initialdomain.local to newdomain.local to keep the capacity to restore old tapes and backup machines in newdomain and machines in initialdomain.

Is it easy and without any hassle to migrate a backup exec server to a new domain, or are there risks and annoyances that make it easier to just get a new solution on a new machine considering that we will have no time for testing or debugging. It will have to work right away?

If it's simpler to rebuild the backup exec machine, we'll just buy a new one and keep the current one to restore old tapes if there's any necessity for this.

So migrating this server on a new domain without any reinstallation of anykind: "easy peasy" or "meh could be a problem"? - I'm a bit worried after reading articles here and there.

You CAN do so. Simply a case of moving to the new domain and using BEutil to change the domain name.

However, your best bet would be to migrate to a new server. This way you carry nothing of the old OS across.
