Hello forum members.

Can I create a "new bedb_dat.mdf" in case of damage? (BE 12.5)

I tried to repair with BEUTILITY.exe but this will not work.

 

BE is not starting, services are down. dbrecover.log shows up many tries, but cannot repair (often Execute command failed: 0x80004005)

Hi

In data folder of backupexec you will see bedb_dat.bak & bedb_log.bak. So first rename the data folder to data_old and then make new folder called Data ensure sql service is stopped

Then in new data folder please copy above 2 files mention

Once done please rename these 2 file to bedb_dat.mdf & bedb_log.ldf which would be you new blank files for backupexec database

Once done please start services & check

There is an option in BEUtility to drop the existing BEDB and create a new one, but this new BEDB will not have any of your jobs, etc.

After creating your new BEDB, you can then try to restore the BEDB from the last backup using BEUtility.

I tried this, but the services do not start (only BackupExecAgentAccelerator, BackupExecDeviceMediaService could not be started)

It seems, that the .BAK files are corrupt too. Is there a chance to build a complete new database?

I try to translate it from the german version:

is it the point

"rebuild database"

with the following 3 methods of rebuild:

"- best method,

- ignore and load from backup,

- ignore and start new database"

?

And I try "- ignore and start new database" then?

Hi,

 

Have you tried to reload the BEDB from backup using BEutility? If not, try this and see if it works.

If it doesn't, stop the BE services, rename Data/Catalogs folders to something else, and then restart the services. This will recreate the Data/Catalogs folders again. Once done, see if the services start up correctly.

You can also try a repair of BE using Add/Remove Programs.

You also don't mention the OS on which you run your backups (Server 2008 R2 for instance isn't support with 12.5); if this is a new problem or an existing one; or if you updated the software with any patches.

Try the second recovery method (circled in green), then as the last resort the last method (circled in red).  Note that if you tried the last method, you will loose all your settings, job definitions, etc.

Meanwhile I tried both, Method 2 & 3, but the result is still the same:

Maybe it has something to do with "ERROR: Database-Backup-file is not available".

 

Does t´he XML-Files "BEX_SERVER_03959.xml" directly refer to the "B2D*****.bkf" files?

Just for info 0x80004005 is usually an Access Denied code - has anyone been messing with the account permissions into SQL (i..e you may not have a corrupt database at alll, just messed up permissions which still apply when you try and recover the bedb?

 

Also does running SGMON with Device and Media selected whilst trying to start device and media service show anything?

Cluster Key? I just found this?

1. Stop and disable Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server Search Service. If the search service is required for operation, refer to the second workaround.
2. Perform the following:
a. Stop all Backup Exec services.
b. Browse to C:> Program files> Symantec> Backup Exec and rename the file bedssps2.dll to bedssps2.old
c. Stop and restart all Backup Exec Services and retry the backup.

OK that error is en excpected return code if you are not running BE on a cluster. you probably need to look elsewhere in what SGMON captures (possibly with Capture to file selected so that you can look at the full log) to find the problem.

Of that is an access deneid message tryign to acecss SQL

 

Also are you doing this logging whilst using beutility - or just when trying to start Device and Media from the servcies list - as I am a bit surprised to see beutilit listed in that log.

Until today there ist no solution for this problem.

What can I do?
