Got this while trying to bu an sql database running sql 7. on a 2000 server freshly reinstalled and patced up.
Tried reinstalling agent.

BU exec running on a 2003 sp1 server.

can you manually run the DBCC in query analyzer? There isn't anything special about how Backup Exec does its DBCC so any problem during the backup should show up in the query. Try DBCC checkdb.
