doing a restore deletes files on the backup disk

GjCk
Level 2

When we try to restore a file, it fails and the backup files on the backup disk are deleted. Before doing the restore, you can open the disk and see the backup files and the backup program shows the disk as full.  After trying to run the restore, you can open the disk and see the backup files age gone.

Any ideas???

This could be caused by the fact that the backup sets have expired and they are deleted by DLM.

Is that something new?  We never had this happen before even if we had to reach back 6 months to restore something.  The expiration setting never caused the files to be deleted when running a restore in the past.

No. Deleting expired backup sets has been a function of DLM since its introduction.

I would suggest that you check your expiration period and if the disk storage is on removable storage check that the "Limit Backup Exec to Read-only operation ...." parameter is set appropriately.
