Dear All,
I've got this error msg in a backup job using Backup Exec 2010 with the Vmware Option.
I went through some technotes and it is not so clear how to fix it. There is a note it could be a permission issue another note said and issue with Vmware tools or there is a note, which says it is an issue Symantec confirmed and will be fixed in the next major revision.Article: TECH170727
I run a job to backup 7 VMs and 3 fails with the error in the subject.
Could you please let me know what you think? Shall I just use the Remote Agent in the meantime to backup the VMs with issues?
Thanks,
Edy

Are you using the free version of ESX? If so, you need to get the paid version which give you the vStorage API needed by BE 2010.

No, it's not the free version. It's the paid version. ESX 4.1 level.
Thanks,
Edy

Try deleting all the snapshots in that VM.

There are many posts on VMware site regarding this.
NetBackup and Backup exec call vmtools, which then calls vss in the VM
VSS creates a snapshot then the VM is backed Up.
Here is a great technote with troubleshooting links
Status 156 : VMware backups fail with "snapshot creation failed, status 156 WRN - ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES is not frozen " Quiescing
