Hello,

The following errors is logged after unsuccessful backup :-

What could be the possible reason for this error ? Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Hi,

It is possible to configure Backup Exec to automatically cancel a job if not completed within a specified time frame.
Please check if this option has been enabled. You may refer to the following technote:

Hello Anop,

Thanks for your immediate response. Actually I can divide unsuccessful backups in 2 categories for the moment.

1- A few backup jobs have never been successful and for those backups I noted that enable automatic cancelllation time was very limited i.e 5 hours so I increased the time.

2- There are few backup jobs for which even enable automatic job canceelation time is like 22 hours, even then there is same event error logged i.e. 34114.

Any further advice would be highly appreciated.

We suggest you to perform the following steps:

To repair Backup Exec refers to the technote below:
Repairing VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.x for Windows Servers

If the repair of Backup Exec does not work, try to perform the repair of the Backup Exec Database We suggest you to run repair database and then verify.


Please perform the repair of Backup Exec database using the following steps:

-> Open BEUTILITY (C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT) -> Add the
-> Media server Right click, on All Media Servers and choose "Add Media Server"
-> Right click on the media server and stop the services.
-> In BEUTILITY Right click on the media server name and choose "Repair Database".
Repairing the database will not delete any of your database files.


If the repair database does not work, we suggest you to drop and reload the database. Please refer to the technote below for the same:

Note:

All media sets, backup-to-disk folders, backup jobs and other settings will have to be created or configured again.
