error restoring messages to a mailbox

I am trying to restore mail and I am getting this error in the Application Event Log on the Exchange Server:

Faulting application beremote.exe, version 9.1.4691.14, faulting module BEDSMBox.dll, version 9.1.4691.0, fault address 0x00008f60.

The log on the media server says: Job ended: Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at 8:25:23 PM
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xa000fe30 - A communications failure has occurred.

Final error category: Server Errors

I need to fix this as soon as possible - our CEO is requesting mail retrieval and when I try to run the job I get these errors!

i would make sure beremote is running on the exchange server, and also do a reinstall of the backup exec remote agent from your backup server to the exchange server..

Can u see the exchange server's mailboxes from a selection list on the backup server?


obviously there is a communications problem between the exchange server and your backup server.... my guess is the remote agent somehow got corrupted.

Try "netstat -a" command and observe whether the ndmp port is utilized by some other application, if so, stop that application or change the port used by remote agent.

For test purposes, please close all third party applications and anti-virus software during restore.


Please make sure that there is low disk activity on the drive where exchange is installed. Please defragment the drive and install the latest network drivers if the exchange server is remote.
