hi there,
we have some monitoring software that looks at event viewer for certain events that we specify and reports them back to us remotley.
does anyone know whether we can set something up to make it so that after a job has complete in symantec backup exec it logs an event log (as it doesnt at the moment) and whether it can be a different event for a success and a failure.

Go to Tools -> Alert Categories.
Job Success is not enabled by default, but if you enable alerts, BE will write an entry in the eventlog at succesfull job completion.

Yes you can configure alerts to be record in event viewer.
For Backup Exec 2012:
Go to Backup Exec Icon on the top left hand corner --> Configuration and Settings -->Alerts and Notification --> Alert Categories --> Select Job Success from the list of alerts and check "Enable alerts for this category and Record event in the Windows Event Log"
