1) Make sure latest Symantec drivers are installed for the Tape device.

2) check event viewer for hardware related event id 's like 7,9,11 and 15

3) check the properties of the tapes if there are any HARD read/write errors

4) erase tapes which are having hard read/write errors

5) perform cleaning of the tape drive

Hi faisal,

got a few of those errors in the past and it turned out it wasn't hardware-related, although that can happen.

Check the RAWS agent on the remote server and make sure it's running. Also check the publishing tab and make sure it publishes to your media server. Once done, run liveUpdate and install any outstanding patches for your media server before push-installing these to any remote servers you may have.

Run a backup, and then report back here.

Thanks!

Hello,

The job is failing after writing arround 150 to 250gb data (it varies each time),

The agent is working ang it has the proper publisher.

In the system event error is 57665 and 34113

Storage device "HP 5" reported an error on a request to write data to media.

Error reported:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error

Hi

Can you please check by going to devices tab & then click on hp5 & then please check how many hard read & hard write error does the drive show if you can attach the screen shot would be great too

If there are more than 3-4 hard read & hard write error could be an issue with drive too

Also ensure your hp service like storage agent & foundation agent & other hp services for library should be disabled

Thanks

...you can try uninstalling the RAWS agent and then reinstalling it...do a push-install.

Test your tape drive with the HP LT&T utility.  Make sure that you stop all the BE sevices first and select the write test.  This is to eliminate hardware error.
