There have been several times that i have encountered a Live Update problem.
for instance-
LiveUpdate starts to download the outstanding Hotfixes but then it times out before it can complete.
Even if restarted it happens again and again.
And even if restarting all the Backup Exec 2010 services, Live Update can still time out.
So the solution to is to go the following example web page and substitute the given hot fix number here (150096) with the number of the hotfix you require.
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH150096
Once your page opens fully then scroll down to the bottom- to the area marked as "Attachments".
There you will see the hotfixes for Windows 32 bit and Windows 64 bit.
Click on the one appropriate for the server that you wish to apply the hotfix.
You will be asked to Save or Run the hotfix. Better to save it and copy it onto a folder on the server where you want it.
And just run it manually from that server.
It will save a lot of wasted time in trying to get Live Update not to time out.
It's possible that if you have a slow Internet link or over-used proxy server, then that could be the cause of the time out.
