Hi, As mentioned above by Craig if you have 2 tape drives in the same RL or if not then you can still perfom tape to disk duplicates. Any any case please follow as mentioned below, To run a duplicate job: 1) Click File, New, Duplicate Backup Sets job 2) Select Duplicate existing backup sets, click OK 3) If you are duplicating a tape, you will find it easier to change the view to view by media. 4) Select the media, which will include all backup sets on the media, or select specific backup sets as required. 5) Choose other backup options as normal 6) Under General, you might want to choose the relevant tape drive as the preferred source device. 7) Click Run. Please note the duplicate jobs can also be scheduled as per below article using policy based job in BE 2010 and above, http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH48668 Use and Configuration of Duplicate Backup Jobs with Backup Exec http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH24544 How to configure Duplicate Backup Jobs in Backup Exec.

Hi,

1 of 2 ways:

1. If you have a library with 2 drives (or even 2 stand-alone drives), then run a Duplicate job which can be setup easily. Simply duplicate the data from tape 1 to tape 2, and then you can erase the tape.

2. If you don't have the hardware in #1, then you need to restore the data to disk. Once done, put in the 2nd tape and then back it up before erasing the tape.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot.

What duplicate will do, it will copy data from source tape to destination tape or tape to disk then tape?

Either or...duplicate the data from tape to tape, or duplicate from tape to disk, and then to tape...
