how to recover a deleted backup task

DenisMoiseenkov

Hello,

We run a test scan task, then deleted the test task. Deleting a test task caused the removal of the ftp backup task
1. How do we now restore it and bind it to the current backup sets.
2. How to create new task after deleting and bind new task to a existing set.

Thanks.

Unfortunately unless you took a backup of the BEDB just immediately before the action you took AND have not done any other actions since (including running any other backup jobs) then it is probably better not to restore it but to recreate the job. Basically the job configs exist in the SQL-based BEDB, which does get backed up at 04:00 every day, but if you recover the BEDB you will lose any events and changes that took place (on any job or against any piece of media) between 04:00 and the current time (which may make things worse overall.)

If you recreate the missing job, you won't lose your existing backup sets (although may find that if running incrementals or differentials that you do have to run a new full to restart a valid sequence)

The job log for the last time you ran that job should still be in Job Monitor and should show what you were backing up in the original job and give some basic info on what the job settings were.
