I backup my Be server every day. The system is WS 2016 (14393.2670) and BE 16 1142 FP2. ŰIt is a dedicated server for backup there is only a few mandatory software only.
Since the last few month, I realized the backup times increased. From April to October it was 40GB and 40 minutes. The size of the backup is still around 40GB but the backup time is increased.
2018 October: 40 minutes
2018 November: 50 minutes
2018 December 1:10 - 1:20 minutes
I think the increase of backup time from 40 to 50 minutes is normal.
The only thing what I realized it depends on the windows updates status. If all updates are installed the backup time normal, if there is an update but it is not installed the backup time is increased with 20-30 minutes.
2018.12.12.: 1:08 min after the December update was released.
2018.12.19 : 53 min after I installed and there was not any update.
2018.12.21: 1:13 min after the new update was released.
2018.01.04 : 53 min after the last update was installed.
I checked the backup process and I see the System State backup time is turning to slow.
Is it normal, or is there any intervention to reduce the backup time to the "normal level"
I have the same problem with 3 windows server 2016. All of my backup are very very very slow on system state - system files. On system state - system files my performance is 30-70 mo/min.
5 days research, 1 full reinstallation and no ameliorations. All of my servers are up 2 date.
sorry for my bad english, french man
3 day ago during the update installation, I realized an October update appeared again. I checked the update history, it was installed more or less but the same time as the problem appeared at first time. I have installed it again and as I see the problem disappeared. My backup time decreased to 42 minutes again.
The affected update was:
2018-10 Update for Windows Server 2016 for x64-based Systems (KB4091664)
